Before joining SRA as consultants, many of our staff worked in universities or training institutes. This work has continued as we have a wide range of experience in training, running courses, conference papers, giving guest lectures and mentoring. In addition staff are involved in validation of courses and syllabuses as external examiners and assessors. We have a particular interest in public sector management, transport, logistics and urban planning.
Recent activities in this area include:
- Research for the Logistics and Learning Skills Council to feed into their sector skills agreement.
- Lecturing for a course for the professional qualification of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
- Mentoring students for the Institute of Logistics and Transport
- Running management courses on the implications of the Working Time Directive
- Strategic Management for senior local government executives
- Helping organisations to develop their Race Equality Schemes
- Courses for overseas public sector civil servants and local government officials (e.g. Poland, Russia, Dominican Republic.)
SRA are also interested in access to education and one of our research projects (for Leicestershire County Council) looked at the influence of transport on the decisions of young people about whether to stay on to take A Levels.
